Sunday May 18th many of us participated in two great charities... The Tootsie Roll Drive and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Blood Drive. The Blood Drive had great support and I would like to thank all that turned out.

Brother Knights,

One of our Brothers in our Council, Kelly Nocco, passed away yesterday at the too-young age of 46. Kelly had ALS and leaves behind his wife and three kids.

I got to know Kelly twenty years ago when we both were in RCIA. He was such a dynamic, engaging young man. I last saw him over a year ago at one of our fish frys, surrounded by his family and friends. Kelly became a Knight four years ago on 5-6-2004.

Please keep his family in your prayers at this difficult time.

Peace,

SK Mark Peterson

Brother Knights,

We are pleased to announce our 2008 Bishop Fulcher Council scholarship winners:

    Margaret Gallina

    Quinn Ketterman

Each will receive a $1,500 check at the Senior Dinner on Saturday night, May 31st.   If you know either of them or their parents, please congratulate them for their outstanding accomplishments.   We had thirteen outstanding applicants this year and it is wonderful to witness the quality of our youth at St. Elizabeth Seton.

My personal thanks to our three judges this year -- Bob Butcher, Tom Chevalier, and Kent Broach.   They will tell you that it is a very rewarding experience to judge the applications and read the outstanding essays these students have written, but choosing the winners can be challenging.   Thanks for a job well done!

Peace,

SK Mark Peterson

Brother Knights,

Our Tootsie Roll drive last weekend netted $2,042 which was about $200 more than last year.   In addition, we had no expenses this year so 100% will be donated to help those with intellectual disabilities.    Thanks to all of you who donned the aprons and held the canisters -- you did our Council proud.

Now I have a request -- although we have donated our proceeds to Janus Development in Noblesville in past years I'd like for us to take a moment and think about the best agency to donate our money to. Nothing wrong with Janus at all but I'd like to hear from you as to your suggestions. We can issue split checks if need be.   Personally, I am not familiar with agencies that work with these disabilities but some of you may have first hand experience.   I'd like to hear from you.

Thank you Jim Spitznogle, our Tootsie Roll chairman, for an outstanding effort this year!

Thanks and Peace,

SK Mark Peterson
